We’re closing in on the college football playoffs, and that means it’s time for me to make a prediction.
The Oklahoma Sooners are going to win the national championship. Now, I know what you’re all thinking, and allow me to answer the criticism and questions right from the start.
Yes, I have been extremely critical of Baker Mayfield, and I’m on the record as not liking him very much at all. Those are the facts. Anybody who has read any of my writings knows this to be true. However, just because I don’t like Mayfield doesn’t mean I’m not going to pick the Sooners. That’s how you guys know I’m always keeping it real with you. I openly admit I don’t like Mayfield and moments later pick his team to win it all. I don’t let emotions dictate my decisions.
Mayfield is an electric quarterback, which is important here because I think Georgia, Oklahoma, Clemson and Alabama are all pretty similar. Whenever things are close, I will always pick the team with the best quarterback. That’s Oklahoma with Mayfield right now.
I might end up being wring, but I don’t think that’s how this will all shake out. I think Oklahoma will beat Georgia in a close game, and then edge out Alabama or Clemson in some late game heroics from Mayfield. It seems like it would be the storybook ending we’re all waiting for.
