Fearing Migrant Attacks, Berlin New Year’s Eve Party Will Feature ‘Safe Zone’ For Women

With memories of women being attacked by gangs of refugees at the 2015 New Year’s Eve bash in Cologne, Berlin will be provide a “safe zone” for women as the city ushers in 2018.

As Sky News reports, the Brandenburg Gate party will feature Red Cross workers who will be available if women feel they are in danger.

Two years ago, gangs of newly-arrived immigrants threw themselves at female celebrants. Germany had experienced a massive infusion of migrants, opening the border to over one million refugees who did not easily assimilate into German society.

Crowds at Berlin’s festivities Sunday night will not be allowed to bring large bags, backpacks, glass containers or alcohol to the event, and anyone attempting to enter with these items will be denied acess.

Berlin police are advising women to leave any valuables at home and to seek assistance at the first sign of trouble. The city has added an extra 500 private security personnel in addition to the 1,000 members of the Berlin police force who will also be on hand. Thousands are expected to attend the New Year’s Eve event.
