Chelsea Clinton has some ‘splaining to do.

It all started when the former first daughter wished a well-known Satanic organization a “Happy New Year” Tuesday night.

The full exchange, which ultimately included The Church of Satan, Chrissy Teigen and Hooters culminated in Clinton wishing the satanic group a “Happy New Year.” The Church of Satan for its part responded in kind.

The Church of Satan describes their religious belief as such:

We are the first above-ground organization in history openly dedicated to the acceptance of Man’s true nature—that of a carnal beast, living in a cosmos that is indifferent to our existence. To us, Satan is the symbol that best suits the nature of we who are carnal by birth—people who feel no battles raging between our thoughts and feelings, we who do not embrace the concept of a soul imprisoned in a body. He represents pride, liberty, and individualism—qualities often defined as Evil by those who worship external deities, who feel there is a war between their minds and emotions.

Because of the pleasant exchange, some on twitter asked if Clinton worships Satan or aligns with the churches teachings.

Clinton publicly denied this, saying she is Methodist and her husband is Jewish and declaring that “we can be civil” to those with different religious beliefs.

Clinton went on to say that those in the Church of Satan, along with the rest of America, should get healthcare.

Glad we got that covered.
