White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a Wednesday press briefing she believes Breitbart should consider firing chairman and former presidential chief strategist Steve Bannon.
“I certainly think that it’s something they should look at and consider,” Sanders said when asked a question about his status at the news agency.
The White House feud with Bannon escalated Thursday after his comments disparaging the president and his family, including accusing the president’s son of treason, in a new book by Michael Wolff.
President Donald Trump released an eviscerating statement on Bannon Tuesday after the comments first came to light, saying, “Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind,” adding “now that he is on his own, Steve is learning that winning isn’t as easy as I make it look. Steve had very little to do with our historic victory, which was delivered by the forgotten men and women of this country.”
