The New York Times canceled an interview event Tuesday night with actor James Franco, citing concerns over recent allegations of sexual misconduct on the part of the actor.

The NYT was supposed to host with Franco and his brother Dave Franco to discuss their new movie “The Disaster Artist” on the outlet’s TimesTalk event, reports The Associated Press.

“The event was intended to be a discussion of the making of the film, ‘The Disaster Artist.’ Given the controversy surrounding recent allegations, we’re no longer comfortable proceeding in that vein,” a NYT spokesperson said.

The decision came after various women on Twitter accused Franco of making an inappropriate move with a seventeen-year-old girl.

Franco addressed the accusations when he appeared on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert. He called the allegations “not accurate,” but voiced his support for women speaking out. The show was filmed before The New York Times canceled Franco’s appearance.

“Look, in my life I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I’ve done,” Franco told the host. “The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate — but I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice because they didn’t have a voice for so long. So, I don’t want to shut them down in any way. It’s a good thing, and I support it.”
