The first trailer for Jon Hamm’s upcoming movie “Beirut” was released Thursday afternoon.

The plot of the film, according to IMDB, is, “A U.S. diplomat (Jon Hamm) flees Lebanon in 1972 after a tragic incident at his home. Ten years later, he is called back to war-torn Beirut by CIA operatives (Rosamund Pike) to negotiate for the life of a friend he left behind.”

The trailer takes the viewer through the backstory with Hamm’s wife getting killed, and then his return to Beirut.

It looks like it’s full of action, suspense and plenty of CIA tradecraft.

What are the chances this movie isn’t pretty good? I put the odds somewhere around zero.

Hamm is an awesome actor. He brings it in literally every single thing he does. Sprinkle in some intense action, a CIA plot, an out of control Middle East country and I think it has winner written all over it.

“Beirut” is scheduled to be released April 13.
