MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle got choked up while reading Ronald Reagan’s final presidential speech and then comparing it to Trump’s comments about “shithole countries.”

WATCH:

“I just want to share this with you because Donald Trump often compares himself to Ronald Reagan,” Ruhle said. “And I want to take a look at President Reagan’s own words on January 19, 1989.”

“Do you see Trump in here at all?” she questioned.

Reagan’s speech talked about the ability of any immigrant to come to America and become an American, and halfway through the reading, Ruhle seemed like she might burst into tears.

“A man wrote to me and said, ‘You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese,'” Ruhle read, choking up. “But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American.”
