A bishop slammed a news outlet for its unfair treatment of a Catholic Conservative party member as well as its skewed presentation of pro-abortion sentiment.

There is rampant “pro-abortion bias from the [British Broadcasting Corporation] with the vast majority of their quotes coming from pro-abortionists,” Bishop John Keenan said, according to the Catholic Herald. He also charged that BBC unjustly attacked Conservative Party vice chair for women, Maria Caulfield, for her opposition to decriminalizing abortion, despite her moderate stances.

Caulfield maintained abortions should remain a criminal act because she doesn’t think abortions to term are acceptable. She has been a vocal supporter of women throughout her tenure.

Caulfield represents the views of most British women, given that virtually no Brits are in favor of lifting all restrictions on abortion, Keenan added.

Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks in Britain unless the unborn baby will have fetal abnormalities or the mother’s life is in danger, in which case unborn babies may be aborted until birth.

“Those pushing for the decriminalisation of abortion are pressing for the right to abort babies up to birth for any reason whatsoever,” Bishop John Keenan of Paisley said. “The present law at least puts some kind of limit on late abortions and, at least in theory, reminds society of the seriousness of taking an innocent human life.”

Caulfield indicated that it’s not her place to judge any woman who wants to abort, but that she has a responsibility as a legislator to carefully consider law changes that will affect women or babies. “It’s a sad day in this country if you can’t have a different view to someone. To say that someone who has a different view cannot represent women is absolutely ridiculous,” Caulfield said, the Catholic Herald reports.

“I know a few excellent BBC journalists but this just lets us all down,” Keenan concluded.
