I don’t care what team you root for in the regular season. I don’t even care if you hate football every other night of the year. Last night’s NFC Championship game should have changed your entire world view. We’re officially living in the age of the Eagles and Nick Foles is our patron saint.

Let me preface this by acknowledging the fact that I may be a bit biased. I was born and raised an Eagles fan and I have a lot of family in Philly still. But even if I were a Vikings fan, I think I could appreciate just how well last night went. From the first 10 minutes on, the Birds methodically annihilated the Vikings and surgically removed their fans’ will to live.

Now along with most of Philly, I proceeded with caution last night. I was aware of the spread, I’d listened to sports pundits all week, I’d read countless articles on how the Birds were doomed. Basically everyone predicted a Patriots-Vikings Super Bowl LII.

But that’s the beauty of the Eagles. Unlike the Patriots, it’s never a guaranteed win. We haven’t had an NFC Championship in over a decade. Being an Eagles fan is edge-of-your-seat kind of stuff and that’s what makes the world turn. From the first quarter on, Nick Foles, Torrey Smith, Jay Ajayi, and the rest of the team had something to prove. Ever since Carson Wentz tore his ACL in week 13, everyone doubted them. Despite their impenetrable defense and #1 record in the NFL, everyone counted Nick Foles out and patiently waited for the Eagles to implode. What happened instead was nothing short of a miracle. The Birds held an airtight defense and only allowed a single Vikings touchdown while they racked up 38 points. Alshon Jeffery had 5 catches for 85 yards. Foles threw for 352 yards and completed 26 of his 33 passes. I don’t care what anyone says, he’s playing at a Tom Brady level now.

So give me Brady. Give me Belichick. Give me Minneapolis. I’m ready to prove the doubters wrong one more time this season. It’s officially the Eagles’ time.

PS: The Daily Caller is a pro-Patriots office that fully recognizes and honors the historic achievements of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, and I therefore acknowledge that I run the risk of losing my job once this article goes live. It ultimately doesn’t matter to me because I love my team that much.
