Cecile Richards plans to step down from her position as president of Planned Parenthood, according to BuzzFeed.

Richards has served as the president of Planned Parenthood for America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund for over a decade. Richards reportedly told some organization’s board members about her plans to step down, but the organization has yet to confirm whether or not she plans to give up her post, BuzzFeed reported Wednesday.

Richards was at the forefront of making Planned Parenthood a national force in politics and activism, bringing on celebrities to back the organization’s initiatives and organizing rallies across the nation to bring women’s issues to light.

Under Richards’ guidance, Planned Parenthood has curried favor with Democrats, who have long championed a woman’s right to an abortion. Pushing for a woman’s ability to have an abortion has landed Richards, along with Planned Parenthood, in hot water with Republicans.

The 60-year-old president is currently working on a memoir, titled “Making Trouble,” which is set to release in April.

Richards is a longtime Democrat, having served as the deputy chief of staff for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and as president of a coalition of Democratic groups.
