CNN’s Chris Cuomo got religious with GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz and began schooling him on the Immaculate Conception, instead of discussing the FBI’s Strzok-Page texting scandal Wednesday on “Cuomo Prime Time.”

Cuomo asked Gaetz about a quote he made comparing the Immaculate Conception to the missing emails between FBI special agent Peter Strzok and lawyer Lisa Page.

“You say this is the biggest coincidence since the Immaculate Conception. What are you talking about?” Cuomo asked.

Gaetz explained how he believed months of missing texts between Strzok and Page would be “one hell of a coincidence” and compared it to the birth of Jesus. He also mentioned the possible “secret society”within the FBI and the danger it would pose to everyday Americans.

Instead of addressing the scandal, Cuomo jumped on Gaetz and began schooling him in the Catholic faith.

“Now you have them meeting with a secret society. You don’t even know that one exists, but what do you mean by the Immaculate Conception,” Cuomo repeated

“That was Lisa Page’s text. She said that we need to be able to get together and have our secret society meeting,” Gaetz replied. But Cuomo continued to persist with his question about the Immaculate Conception.

“What do you think happened with the Immaculate Conception,” Cuomo said.

“The Immaculate conception, it’s obviously a religious doctrine that deals with the Christian faith,” Gaetz shot back. “Look, did you really bring me on to discuss my religious views, Chris?”

“I’m saying you made the analogy, and I don’t understand. The Immaculate Conception is not how Jesus was born,” Cuomo replied. “It was Mary’s conception. It was the mother’s conception without original sin. It was not the conception of Jesus. Facts matter, Congressman. If you’re going to make an analogy, at least know what you’re talking about because you’ve got to have a basis for these things. You only know what you show. You’ve got to release that memo. It’s got to have the facts and you better figure out what this secret society is before you say there’s a shadow organization within the FBI.”

Gaetz said Congress is planning on digging deeper to shine a light on the hidden bias at the FBI, but Cuomo couldn’t resist taking a victory lap and patting himself on the back for being right.

“For you religious people out there who are Christians, you know that I’m right. And for those of you who don’t, go Google it. See what the Immaculate Conception is. Shouldn’t say it if you don’t know what it means,” Cuomo concluded.
