WWE founder Vince McMahon will make another attempt at starting a pro football league, according to ESPN.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported the following:

Sources have confirmed to ESPN that WWE founder and chairman Vince McMahon will announce that he will make another attempt at starting a professional football league.

Alpha Entertainment, a company formed by McMahon, issued a media advisory Thursday saying that McMahon would have a “major sports announcement” on Thursday afternoon.

Rovell also tweeted that the announcement will come at 3 pm EST.

Let’s go! McMahon failed with the XFL, but now might be the perfect time to get back in the professional football game. NFL ratings are going down, people are getting tired of the politics and they’re just looking for some football.

The main question now is if McMahon makes this a serious league, or tries more gimmicks like the XFL. I hope he does it seriously and starts the league in the spring. That way we’d get football year around. Then he could go get some big name players like Manziel or Tebow and we’d be off to the races. Can’t wait to find out what he has in mind.
