The executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies called on people to start burning their pro-Trump hats after the White House announced a proposal for amnesty for Deferred Action for Childhood (DACA) arrival recipients Thursday.

Mark Krikorian, head of the conservative immigration center, asked for people to send him pictures of them burning their Make America Great Again hats.

“Time to start burning your #MAGA hats. Send pictures and I’ll retweet,” Krikorian tweeted.

The White House released its immigration proposal Thursday, which included amnesty for the almost 1.8 million immigrants brought to the country illegally as children, which after a 10-12 year period, they could become citizens. In exchange for amnesty, the White House proposal calls for $25 billion for a border wall and the end of chain migration.

Krikorian later expressed his annoyance with the White House immigration proposal, saying they had “botched the DACA issue.”

“But the amnesty and chain migration components are fatally flawed. The fact that amnesty would include a  path to citizenship (i.e. the beneficiaries would eventually get green cards like regular immigrants) is fine with me-if you’re going to amnesty illegal aliens, just rip off the band-aid and get it over with,” Krikorian wrote in National Review.
