Hours before the State of the Union address, many prominent liberals were already forming the left-wing narrative in response to the speech by warning their fellow ideologues against referring to anything President Donald Trump says as “presidential.”
New York Times columnist Charles Blow made it clear he will be banning anyone who uses the word, no matter what the president says.
Let me throw down the gauntlet NOW: If anyone comes on my tv tomorrow night after the SOTU saying whatever speech Trump READS somehow makes his sound good/presidential/unifying, I’m turning you off and never listening again.

Washington Post opinion columnist Brian Klaas begged journalists and pundits to avoid using the word.
Dear Gullible Pundits: You may be tempted to use the word ‘presidential’ tonight after Trump’s State of the Union, as he badly reads prepared remarks from a teleprompter. I beg you, before you do, read this to understand why describing Trump that way makes you look like a moron:

He then engaged in a long threat of headlines attacking some of the things Trump has said in the past.
Was it ‘presidential’ when Trump bragged about his comparatively large ‘button’ while threatening nuclear war on Twitter? pic.twitter.com/EMT0zrUxOU

Was it ‘presidential’ when Trump made up a vicious, despicable lie about the appearance of a television morning show host simply because she criticizes him, a right that he is sworn to defend? pic.twitter.com/xwOtRNsIbP

Was it ‘presidential’ when he fabricated a lie about President Obama regarding a wire ‘tapp’ — after years of spreading a vicious, racist lie about Obama’s birthplace? pic.twitter.com/BVtazw1nWt

Former CNN personality Dean Obeidallah would like anyone who uses the term fired.
If any cable news pundit says after Trump’s State of the Union speech tonight that Trump has finally become “presidential” that person should be immediately fired and arrested for impersonating a person with brain.

Former comedian Michael Ian Black let his hostility flag fly.
Oh my God, you morons wondering if Trump will be “presidential” at the SOTU. He will read his words like a good boy. If that’s the bar, then every 8 year old in America is presidential.
— Michael Ian Black (@michaelianblack) January 29, 2018
Hollywood screenwriter Marc Guggenheim is already slamming journalists who use the word.
In 24 hours, we all get to read about how @realDonaldTrump got back to being “presidential” because he was able to read from a teleprompter and didn’t drool on himself.
— Marc Guggenheim (@mguggenheim) January 30, 2018
Young Turks personality Michael Tracey put pundits on notice.
A handful of idiot pundits are going to say Trump “seems presidential” tonight or whatever, and that’s going to be presented as evidence that the media’s gone soft on Trump, even though there’s more open media hostility to Trump than any president in modern history

CNN personality Bakari Sellers let his feelings be known.
During tonight’s SOTU refrain from words like Presidential and pivot. If he says something and it sounds decently normal and human, settle.. pic.twitter.com/LuOAe4uYEI
