Daytime talkshow host Wendy Williams minced no words when discussing the “Me Too” movement on her show recently.
It happened during a “Hot Topics” segment, when now-infamous rapper R. Kelly was brought up. “So, there’s a grassroots movement to remove R. Kelly from the music industry forever,” she explained. Activist groups are trying to get people to boycott the popular artist after allegations surfaced that Kelly was running a cult and sexually assaulting young women. But Wendy Williams is skeptical of the effort.
“It’s not gonna work. Black people aren’t really good at protesting. Not since the King march,” she said to a wide-eyed crowd.
“I’m sick of this #MeToo movement,” she continued. “I love that people are speaking up for the first time and coming out and everything, but now it’s got — I look at all men like, ‘You’re a #MeToo.’ All of them. All of them, which is not fair.”
While her comment on African American protests shocked her audience, some people clapped along to her comments on the “Me Too” movement. It’s pretty difficult to understand what she’s trying to say from a transcript, but based on the video, it seems like Williams is trying to say that the “Me Too” movement is unfairly casting all men in a negative light.
She still received a ton of backlash for her comments on the movement on social media.

A rep for the TV personality released a statement shortly after the show aired to clarify Willaims’ stance on the issue.
“Wendy is and always has been a supporter and advocate of women’s issues, including the current #MeToo and Time’s Up movements,” her rep said.
