On Tuesday January 30, 2018, President Donald J. Trump gave his first State of the Union Address.

As he stood in the Capitol building, President Trump highlighted his administration’s economic successes and the adversities he overcame in his first year in office. His speech had a tone of unification, strength and patriotism.

President Trump stressed the importance of faith, justice and freedom, reminding Americans of his pledge to appoint judges who will uphold citizens’ Constitutional rights, specifically the First Amendment and Second Amendment. He honored our service members — both in the military and law enforcement — and addressed the opioid epidemic plaguing the nation. He laid out his plans for infrastructure and immigration, asking Congress to do what’s best for the American people, rather than blocking legislation in the name of party identity.
