Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Wire Ben Shapiro said Democrats have a hatred for America and believes it will hurt the party in the upcoming midterm elections.
“The art of politics always used to be getting your opponents to actually oppose motherhood, apple pie and the american flag. And now Democrats are just embracing that,” Shapiro said Thursday on “Fox & Friends.”

“This is not about 1950s America,” he continued. “This is about a gap created by the hard left in the United States which opposes all of these unifying institutions.”
Shapiro said President Donald Trump was successful in mentioning these unifying topics in his state of the union address and believes Democrats have doomed themselves by refusing to show any support.
“[Trump] did a good job mentioning a lot of things that unify Americans. Among them, things like the police, military and the national anthem and the flag,” Shapiro concluded. “And Democrats were sitting for those things or deriding that. Good luck in 2018 if that is your strategy.”
