Johnny Manziel made clear late Thursday night that he is in fact close to signing a deal to play in the CFL.

The Texas A&M Heisman winner quote tweeted a TSN report that the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were far apart with him on the salary for a contract, and wrote, “Nahhh.”

Well that tweet put a fun spin on this whole situation. Yesterday was Manziel’s deadline to get a deal done, and it came and went without him inking a contract. The reality of the situation is that Manziel isn’t going to walk away from the table unless he has a better offer elsewhere.

Just wait on it #ComebackSZN

Seeing as how the NFL likely isn’t going to come calling right now, I don’t see a situation where Manziel just walks away from the CFL over a money dispute, especially if he’s serious about getting back on a field to play ball. He appears serious about playing football again, and he can’t let money be a concern for him right now.

There is also a serious incentive for the CFL to get this deal done. The league will get more attention in a single day after Manziel arrives than they have gotten in the history of the CFL. This is a no brainer for them.

I guess we’re just in a holding pattern right now. As our President would say, we need to shut this whole thing down until we figure out what the hell is going on. Football fans are on an emotional rollercoaster waiting to find out when Johnny Football’s #ComebackSZN will be official.
