The 2018 NFL MVP Award doesn’t get announced until tomorrow, but the general public may be privy to some insider information a day early thanks to some absent minded rando at a presser.

An eagle eyed reporter for the Grand Forks Herald spotted someone at a media gaggle holding papers with the headline “BRADY ACCEPTANCE SPEECH.”

“The NFL MVP is being awarded on Saturday, and a Tom Brady acceptance speech was spotted today in Minnesota,” Brad Elliott Schlossman of the Herald posted to Twitter.

You’ve gotta love this. Just when you think it couldn’t get any more 2018 than it already is, it does – with a nice acceptance speech in plain sight. We live in leaky times and there are eyes everywhere. Maybe if this poor guy lived in the 1800’s this flaky behavior would go unnoticed. But we live in the 21st century and now the whole world knows and to make matters worse, this guy’s probably out of a job come Monday.

Unless, of course, he’s a Belichick plant. I love a good Pats conspiracy and this would fit right into the trusty Belichick playbook. Plant a story, let the media go crazy, and keep your team’s head down while the whole world melts down outside your window. Call me a tin-foil hatter, but I don’t exactly think any member of the Pats’ squad is dumb enough to title a draft of Brady’s MVP acceptance “TOM BRADY ACCEPTANCE SPEECH.”

If someone was walking around with Brady’s speech in plain sight (highly unlikely), it would probably be named something way more clandestine. Maybe something like “OPERATION HAMMER OF THOR” or “NICK FOLES ACCEPTANCE SPEECH.”

So stay tuned for the real announcement on Saturday, February 3 at 9 PM ET.
