Low water levels are causing Venice’s canals to dry up and forcing people to tie their gondolas to wooden posts in the muddy ground, according to a Thursday report.
The historic city is suffering a drawback as water levels keep dwindling to approximately 23 inches lower than normal levels, forcing some canals to shut down gondola rides, reported the Daily Mail.
This is the third year in a row that bizarre weather patterns have severely decreased water levels. The strange phenomenon is due to a combination of low tides caused by the super blue blood moon and lack of rainfall for the popular tourist city, according to the Independent.
