President Donald Trump touted a new report Saturday morning claiming his presidential approval rating soared after the State of the Union address Tuesday night.

The president’s approval rating reportedly rose to 49 percent after Tuesday’s address, according to the conservative-leaning Rasmussen report. An estimated 75 percent of viewers approved of the president’s speech, according to a CBS poll.

“Rasmussen just announced that my approval rating jumped to 49%, a far better number than I had in winning the Election,” Trump tweeted Saturday. Friday’s 49 percent figure is up four points from the previous day’s 45 percent.

The president has traditionally relied on the Rasmussen reports, which tend to provide figures higher than some other polls, to gauge his  performance. The latest Gallup poll, which was taken prior to the State of the Union address, has the president’s approval rating at 38 percent. Overall, Trump’s approval rating has been on a downward trend since he took office last year.

Friday’s Rasmussen report indicates that record low unemployment rates, a booming stock market, and faith that the president will try to keep the promises made in his State of the Union address are contributing to improvements in Trump’s approval rating.
