Everyday Americans Thank Trump For Tax Reform

American workers took the stage in Ohio on Monday to thank President Donald Trump for signing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

While House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly called the bonuses workers are receiving “crumbs,” but these Ohioans proved that $1000 can make a real difference in their lives.

The CEO of the Sheffer Corporation, Jeff Norris, announced during Trump’s speech that every one of his employees would received a $1000 bonus. In addition, he promised to invest in “people, processes, and equipment.”

One Sheffer employee, Dina, who worked her way up from secretary to manager, said she would use the $2500 from bonuses and tax cuts to help her family buy a house and pay for her kids’ college.

“It means that we’ll have more money in the bank,” Dina said. “More money to make ends meet. Personally, for my family, my husband Tim and I are in the process of buying a home and in the fall both of my kids will be going to college, so we’ll be using that money.”

Tyler Berkshire, a Sheffer machinist, said he is hoping to save his $1000 bonus so that he can eventually start a family.

“Thank you, Mr. President. With the tax cut and the bonus, I will be trying to save up money to start a family and eventually get a bigger house,” he asserted.

Fifth Third Bank also announced at the Trump speech that they would be raising their minimum wage to $15 per hour and would give all employees a $1000 bonus.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done for our nation and we thank you for your efforts and your leadership and bringing tax reform to America,” the CEO said. “At Fifth Third Bank, we’re feeling the effects of the tax benefit and working to pass the benefits on to our employees. Immediately upon the announcement of the passing of the legislation, fifth third bank announced an investments in employees included raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and a bonus of $1,000 for over 13,500 of our valuable employees.”
