I Take No Joy In Being Right About The ‘Dundee’ Sequel Being Fake

Sunday night confirmed what I’ve been speculating for weeks.

There will be no “Dundee” sequel, and the whole thing was a fake movie advertisement. The entire stunt was a tourism ad for Australia.

It was a pretty funny and entertaining advertisement, but fake nonetheless.

I’ll admit it, when I saw the first preview I thought this was a very real thing. Why wouldn’t we have thought that? It would have been hilarious. Danny McBride, Margot Robbie and Chris Hemsworth in a movie together would have been epic. As a big McBride fan, I was pretty pumped.

However, it became clear rather quickly that things weren’t adding up. I found no timeline for when the movie was shot, the whole thing appeared out of thin air and I began openly questioning whether or not this was a real movie. I implored people in a group chat to not buy into this being a real movie. I was rebuffed again and again. Nobody wanted to listen to reason.

Trust me, there is no joy in finding out this was fake and my speculation was very much warranted. I wish this had been real. I really do. It’d be better for everybody if I had been wrong, and McBride and Hemsworth were actually doing this movie. Unfortunately, I was right. It’s too bad. We’ll never know what could have been.
