Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said President Donald Trump was right to pass up a Super Bowl halftime interview with NBC because they are “terribly biased” and “factually false.”

Fox News Host Steve Doocy asked Gingrich if Trump made the right decision when he rejected NBC’s request and the former speaker said it was the only move he could make.

“Look I find Meet The Press now, I can’t watch it anymore. It’s so biased. There is no reason the president should subject himself to going through this charade as though being interviewed by the enemy is a neutral event,” Gingirch said Monday on “Fox & Friends.”

He accused the mainstream press of being an arm of the Democratic Party and said the idea of a neutral interview is a fantasy.

“The elite media is totally the offensive wing of the left. They have nothing left of the idea of being a neutral news media,” Gingrich concluded. “And I don’t think [Trump] should dignify them by pretending that they’re okay. They are not okay. They are terribly biased. And they are very often factually false.
