Trump’s idea to showcase the military through a parade down the streets of Washington, D.C. comes after his summer trip to France for Bastille Day where a similar spectacle occurred.
Rather than to visit these troops fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan, Trump wants to feature those who are fighting for this country, as they parade down Pennsylvania Avenue.
While some boast about the patriotism this event could bring, others are weary this is just another Trump demonstration. The media has already made comparisons of authoritarian regimes such as Russia and North Korea, that do similar celebrations.
“This is another war with the media that Trump can win,” Amber Athey of The Daily Caller said.
“Trump is going to have a really easy time convincing the public that they should embrace patriotism and embrace the military.” (RELATED: TheDC Newsroom: The Battle Of The Memos Has Dems Lookin’ Like Chicken Little)
“This is just another way that Trump’s going to win one of those culture wars that he’s so famous for,” she added.
