Tim Tebow doesn’t sound like he cares much at all about playing in Vince McMahon’s rebooted XFL.

“Not really. Honestly, it’s the beginning of 2018. And they’re talking about that in 2020. I’ve got a lot of life in front of me before that even happens. So I’m not even going to worry about it,” Tebow told SEC country when asked if he’s interested in the XFL.

I hate to brag, but I called this awhile back. There’s no point in Tebow playing in the XFL, and I argued the following:

There is no reason Tebow would ever agree to join this league. Why would he? He knows his NFL days are over, he’s made his money, he’s playing baseball and he’s got his ESPN job. He’ll also be 32 years old when the XFL starts up in January 2020. I don’t think a dude in his 30s wants to be playing football in a startup league. Call me crazy, but I think Tim Tebow has better things to do.

I stand by every single word I wrote, and I’ll be shocked if the Heisman Trophy winner at Florida ever plays a single snap in the XFL. There’s just no situation where I see him entertaining the idea. You can all wait to see if I’m wrong, but I think you’ll be very disappointed with the outcome.

He’s sticking to ESPN and baseball, as he should.
