President Donald Trump announced his support for Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Lou Barletta to take on Democratic Sen. Bob Casey for U.S. Senate, in a tweet Sunday afternoon.
Trump touted Barletta as “strong & smart,” and mentioned the Republican congressman was one of his earliest supporters. The president also took a shot at Casey for listening to “Tax Hikers” such as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer who all voted no on the tax reform bill.

Not long after Trump expressed his support, Barletta sent out a tweet with Trump’s signature slogan, “#MAGA.”

Barletta was also endorsed by the Republican Party Saturday. The Pennsylvania primary will take place in May.
