“I don’t want to get paid more overseas,” she added. “I want to get paid in my country.”

According to a 2017 report, the highest paid player in the professional women’s basketball league makes $100,000 a year for a base salary. In comparison, NBA star Steph Curry is making $36.4 million this season. Last year, he signed a 5-year, $201-million deal with the Golden State Warriors.

The WNBA all-star also was invited to play on the U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio where she helped bring home the gold. McCoughtry also took home the gold with the U.S. Team at the 2012 Summer Olympics held in London.
