CNN Analyst Breaks Down Discussing Florida Shooting

CNN counterterrorism analyst Phil Mudd broke down into tears on Wednesday discussing the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

WATCH:

Mudd has been on CNN analyzing multiple terror attacks and shootings, but he could not make it through his commentary on the latest shooting, which has claimed the lives of at least a dozen students. (RELATED: Report: Florida School Shooting Claims Multiple Lives)

“I have ten nieces and nephews,” Mudd said, tears forming in his eyes. “We’re talking about bump stocks, we’re talking about legislation…a child of God is dead.”

“Can not we acknowledge in this country that we cannot accept this,” he continued, his voice breaking.

Ultimately, Mudd completely broke down and was unable to continue.

“I can’t do it, Wolf, I’m sorry,” he said. “I can’t do it.”

Blitzer cut away from Mudd as he continued to cry, offering to viewers, “obviously this is so emotional.”
