WATCH: Florida High School Mass Shooting Suspect Appears In Court

Nikolaus Cruz, the suspect in the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, appeared in court Thursday.

WATCH: 

Judge Kim Theresa Mollica said, “You are charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. I have something very important to tell you. You’re charged with some very serious crimes. You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right at any time during this hearing, whatever you say can and will be used against you in the prosecution of this case.”

You can also hear the suspect talk in court when he answers the judge’s question.

The suspect is a 19-year-old male who was expelled from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the same school where he committed the mass shooting. (RELATED: Here’s Everything We Know About The Florida High School Shooting Suspect)

Seventeen people died as a result of the shooting.
