Comedian Kevin Hart is the new face of Mountain Dew.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell tweeted out the news late Thursday night.

I like Kevin Hart. He’s a funny dude, but I’m not sure he’s got the chops to really represent the Mountain Dew brand. Mountain Dew is the soda of the fringe class and the renegades. It’s the refreshing beverage of those who live on the fringes of society. Few will ever know what this means, and even fewer will ever spend a second living that lifestyle.

Hart is a hilarious guy. No question about that, but is comedy what Mountain Dew should be shooting for? I’m not so sure. Seems like Matthew McConaughey or Clint Eastwood would be the perfect face of Mountain Dew. McConaughey’s “True Detective” character would absolutely have been a fan of the caffeine infused soda.

Hell, I’m not sure why I didn’t get a call. I’ve been drinking the stuff ever since I was a child, and look how it all worked out for me. Mountain Dew played a large role in my rise to the top of the internet. Hammering out article after article just doesn’t happen all by itself. It takes some serious caffeine and brain activity.

Plus, my blue eyes might be the most valuable marketing item any company would ever have in the history of the world. Just a thought. I’ll be waiting right here in the wings if Mountain Dew needs a new guy.
