Fergie had the unique privilege of singing the National Anthem ahead of the NBA All-Star game on Sunday.
She tried to sing it, at least.
It’s no secret that Fergie is a great signer with tons of hits. Who doesn’t sing Fergalicious at the top of their lungs in the shower every now and then? But this was a travesty. An absolute abomination. You could almost hear all of America looking on saying, “Come on Ferg. You’re better than this.”
At least Draymond Green was having a good time.

But since this is 2018 and everything now devolves into a Twitter fight online, Fergie’s rendition of the National Anthem promptly became America’s Sunday night fodder.
Lots of people commented on how downright horrendous the performance was.
Fergie’s rendition of the National Anthem was originally written by Francis Scott Out of Key.

But plenty of perfectly good leftists just couldn’t let it sit at that. They had to take it a step farther and say that this shoddy rendition of the National Anthem is what our country deserves, given our recent political divides and strife over Anthem protests.
Fergie’s response the current state of America. She expresses the pain and betrayal that Americans feel, while also including the shock felt by outside countries. For your service, we thank you comrade Stacy https://t.co/ZhsXQQcI2B

Twitter even created a news moment for people to discuss the matter, asking, “Is Fergie’s rendition of the national anthem what ‘the US deserves?'”
Others thought Fergie’s performance was a “call to action and a cry for justice.”
what fergie did tonight was activism. radical resistance. ima need y’all to pipe down & listen in between the lines. thassa call to action & a cry for justice. wake up.

Others saw it as an ode to Trump’s America.
Fergie should sing that national anthem during Trump’s impeachment.

it has been HOURS since Fergie sang the national anthem at the NBA all star game and the president has STILL refused to acknowledge and respond as the leader we need as a nation in this time of strife

With Trump as president the national anthem doesn’t deserve to be sang better than #Fergie sang it TBH. #NBAAllStar

So to all those people who thought Fergie finally “got all of America to agree” on something, think again. This is 2018. We only know chaos. And Jimmy Kimmel’s wily grin.
I watched the Fergie anthem again for science and didn’t realize they got this shot of Kimmel. #NBAAllStar2018
