Bullet holes were mysteriously found in a mob-linked Italian restaurant with “phenomenal” food in Brooklyn on Sunday, a law-enforcement source told the New York Post.

Bullet holes were found at Marco Polo Ristorante, which is known for its delicious food, suffered bullet holes in the window and door, reported the New York Post. The shots were allegedly intended to send a “message” to the owners of the reportedly mob-linked restaurant.

“It’s obviously some kind of message,” said a law enforcement source to the New York Post. A surveillance camera also caught a hooded man shooting bullets at a fitness studio at 6 a.m. near the restaurant.

Joseph Chirico, 73, a mobster and founder of the 35-year-old restaurant previously pleaded guilty to aiding the Gambino crime family to money laundering in 2008. The restaurant is still a popular destination for attorneys and judges, despite its mob-links, according to the New York Post.

Bullet holes and mobster ties, however, aren’t keeping customers away.

“Would I come back here? Yeah, I’d come back. The food here is phenomenal,” said a neighbor to NYP reporters.

Chirico previously used his connections to bring medieval texts from Italy to N.Y. which he was later celebrated for at Borough Hall in 2014, added New York Daily News.
