New York Giants QB Geno Smith might be joining Kyrie Irving’s camp of flat earth truthers.
As a backup QB for one of 2017’s sorriest NFL teams, Smith is probably having a pretty quiet offseason. And everybody knows that one of the best cures for boredom is fighting with people on Twitter about scientifically proven facts.
“I been studying this whole flat earth vs globe thing… and I think I may be with Kyrie on this… b4 you judge do some HW but what do you guys think?” he asked fans on Saturday.

And when Twitter predictably erupted into debate over whether the earth was in fact round, Geno took the opportunity to tell people to keep an open mind about things.
I find it funny how you all assume I believe Earth is flat lol I just think you guys should have an open mind because as we know a lot of the “truths” that we thought were true actually aren’t

I’ve been saying this for quite some time now. The more we open our minds to things like the earth being flat, transgender girls monopolizing wrestling tournaments, and giving up our guns to a guy who’s supposedly Hitler, the better we’ll be as a nation. It just takes an open mind.
Smith later walked back his flat earth comments and affirmed that he knew the earth was a ‘globe.’
Hey guys I’m glad we had this talk today it was fun lol I know how you all love to debate on Twitter so this was good… for the record Earth is a globe we know this. But why not listen to someone else’s beliefs or “truth”

He didn’t miss the chance to encourage people to accept other people’s truths though. It’s unclear whether Smith was actually trying to get others to open their minds or if he was making fun of the rampant PC culture that allows several truths to exist at the same time. Perhaps only the flat earthers know for certain.
