MSNBC “Morning Joe” cohost Joe Scarborough questioned Monday why Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel ran around doing television interviews when he knew his deputies dropped the ball during the Parkland school shooting.

Scarborough said that he is “glad” Florida governor Rick Scott is investigating why four sheriff’s deputies did not enter the school when they knew the shooting was taking place inside, and slammed Israel for seeking out his fifteen minutes instead of figuring out “what the hell was going on” in his department.

“They did absolutely nothing,” Scarborough said of the deputies. “This cop goes on CNN on the town hall meeting, show boats when he should have kept his head down and he should have figured out what the hell was going on in his department.”

He also recalled the scene during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks when New York City firefighters ran into buildings to save civilians, even knowing they may not ever come back out.

“They knew they were going up to save people and they knew they were going straight into the gates of hell and that they were going to die,” he said.
