The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) warned House candidates not to “politicize” the Vegas Shooting the morning after the tragic event.

“You and your candidate will be understandably outraged and upset, as will your community. However, DO NOT POLITICIZE IT TODAY,” a DCCC regional press secretary wrote to Northeastern candidates. “There will be time for politics and policy discussion, but any message today should be on offering thoughts/prayers for victims and their families, and thanking 1st responders who saved lives.”

“I’d recommend tweeting little today and, if possible, holding any press hits for the rest of the week,” the email continued.

Democrats and members of the media have re-invoked the gun control debate in the wake of the tragic Florida Parkland shootings, calling for raising the minimum age for purchasing a rifle, limiting magazines and other more drastic measures.

President Donald Trump has show his approval for raising the age of for purchasing a rifle from 18 to 21-years-old. The president has also floated other proposals, like allowing willing high school teachers and coaches conceal carry.
