A few days ago Dwyane Wade dedicated the rest of his season to Joaquin Oliver, who died in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. On Tuesday, Wade delivered.
Just a few weeks after his return to the Miami Heat Wade hit a game winning shot against the Philadelphia 76ers in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. While it was a special moment for Wade, what made it more special was who he dedicated the moment to.
“So this happened tonite,” Wade wrote in an Instagram post. “Great team win!!! Thankful for my support system for the belief and the confidence. That’s my Teammates, Coaches, family and friends!!! Joaquin Oliver and Henry Thomas thanks for being my angels tonite.”
After finding out that Oliver was buried in Wade’s jersey on Sunday the Heat guard dedicated his return to Miami and the rest of his season to his honor.
This is Joaquin Oliver. He was one of the 17 young lives that were lost tragically at Douglas HighSchool in Parkland. Joaquin was one of many that i heard was excited about my return to Miami and yesterday was buried in my jersey. This is why we will not just SHUT up and dribble! pic.twitter.com/X0tfTTao33
