Former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz said Thursday that Democratic Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf should be dragged before Congress and forced to answer questions about illegal immigration under oath.
Schaaf is being investigated by the Department of Justice for warning illegal immigrants about raids by the federal government and may be charged with obstruction of justice.
“This is one of the best things that the Trump administration is doing,” Chaffetz said Thursday on “Fox & Friends.” “You have the Trump administration, again doing what they said they would do, working to deport them. But you have people like the mayor of Oakland giving heads up to the criminal element, this is the criminal element. I would think the House and Senate — the judiciary committees, they should yank her up, make her raise her right hand and learn everything about that case.”

Chaffetz said bringing Schaaf before Congress would be a quicker solution than waiting for the courts to act and believes a congressional hearing could be arranged in a matter of weeks.
“They could do that in two weeks time,” Chaffetz concluded. “They don’t need to go through all the lawsuits. They could issue her a subpoena. Get her up on Washington, D.C. and have her explain and have the Democrats try to defend why they are pro-illegal alien criminals and anti-American ICE officers.”
