A junior high school teacher is in a heap of trouble this week after he allegedly fed a puppy to a snapping turtle in the name of science.

Robert Crosland has been a science teacher at Preston Junior High School in Idaho for years however it’s unclear whether this behavior is new or considered standard for him. The Superintendent of the Preston School District called the situation “a regrettable circumstance involving some of the biological specimens.”

The Superintendent continued, “The event occurred well after students had been dismissed and was not a part of any school-directed program. We emphasize that at no time was the safety of students or staff compromised.”

While the incident allegedly took place after school hours but several students said they witnessed the feeding. However they were unsure whether the puppy was dead or alive. Several students have recalled feeding small rodents to snakes in Crosland’s class before but the puppy thing takes it a little too far.

“A part of any investigation includes determining the best course of action once the facts of the matter have been ascertained. This is not a situation that is easy, nor do we feel it is a measure that can be taken lightly,” the Superintendent said. Crosland has not been charged or placed on leave as of yet.
