Democratic Minnesota Sen. Tina Smith referred to House Speaker Paul Ryan as the “wicked prince of Wisconsin” during a Friday interview on “The View.”
“The View” cohosts noted that Democrat Conor Lamb was able to win a special election in a majority Republican district, seemingly because he distanced himself from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
Sen. Smith insisted that Lamb won solely because he focused on the interests of the district and painted himself as a Washington outsider, not because he chose to denounce Nancy Pelosi. But cohost Joy Behar wouldn’t let her off the hook so easily.
“Is Nancy Pelosi now the new Wicked Witch of the West like Hillary Clinton was made out to be?” Behar asked Smith.
“I’d rather talk, you know, the wicked prince of Wisconsin,” Smith replied. “Paul Ryan.”
The cohosts and audience laughed and cheered at Smith’s joke.
