In the spirit of “Tomb Raider” hitting theaters over the weekend, we thought we’d look back at the first actress who played the globe-trotting badass on screen.

Angelina Jolie has appeared in a long list of movies over the years, but “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” just might have been her best ever. If you don’t believe me, I seriously recommend revisiting the 2001 blockbuster.

The trailer only gives you a glimpse back at the action-packed movie, but it doesn’t take much for you to realize that “Tomb Raider” came at the prime of Jolie’s career. Jolie was only 25 years old when the first “Tomb Raider” film was released in theaters and two years later she looked just as good in the sequel “The Cradle of Life.”

Jolie went on to do some other great movies like “Alexander” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” when she swept Brad Pitt away from Jennifer Aniston, but there’s no question that “Tomb Raider” was peak Angelina Jolie.

While the original Lara Kroft is way past her prime now, she’s still got love for the franchise. Jolie and her kids reportedly hit the movie theater over the weekend to see Alicia Vikander revive the role in the new “Tomb Raider.”

If she plays the role half as well as Jolie did, it will be well worth your time.
