Rookie New York Jets linebacker Dylan Donahue is facing another DUI charge in less than one year.

The incident occurred in May 2017, several days before he was drafted by the New York Jets. According to ESPN, Donahue crashed his car in Billings, Montana on May 9, 2017. He had a blood alcohol content of 0.137 percent, almost double the legal limit of .08. ESPN reports that the police arrived on scene just before 2:30 AM and found his SUV flipped over with the passenger injured and bleeding badly.

While Donahue admitted to having “several alcoholic drinks earlier in the evening,” he claims he crashed his car because he briefly looked down at his phone while he was driving. He says while he was distracted looking at his phone, he accidentally rammed into a parked pickup truck that was partially obstructing his lane — which sent his SUV flying.

Donahue was charged with reckless driving and now faces a misdemeanor DUI charge in the state of Montana. He’s also subject to NFL disciplinary measures. It’s unclear what his fate might be, as a Jets spokesman vaguely told ESPN, “This is a pending legal matter, and we will have no further comment.”

Last month, Donahue was arrested for driving the wrong way through the Lincoln Tunnel when he collided with a large public transport bus. Nobody was injured but he’s due in court this April where he could be charged with DWI and reckless driving.

While Donahue — also known as “Wild Man” — was thought to be a promising prospect, he only played four games after injuring his elbow in Week 4. It’s unclear what disciplinary measures the Jets will take if Donahue is charged for multiple DUIs after just one season as a rookie.
