Judge Napolitano Fears FISA Abuse Is Leading To A Constitutional Crisis
Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said abuse by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court may end up plunging the nation into a constitutional crisis, Thursday on “Fox & Friends.”
“The FISA court has granted 99.9 percent of government surveillance requests,” Napolitano said. “You see the anti-Trump political dossier funded by the Democrats. You see Andrew Mccabe and his colleagues using this dossier as the basis for a FISA application.”
“The first word in FISA, the F stands for ‘foreign’ intelligence surveillance act. It’s now been turned 180 degrees on its head to spy on Americans,” he added.
Napolitano said these abuses have been occurring for decades but blames people like former FBI Director Jim Comey and former deputy director Andrew McCabe for continuing the culture of corruption.
“Did Andrew Mccabe cause this to happen? No,” Napolitano continued. “This happened over the course of 40 years. But [McCabe] is part of the culture that accepted it as the norm and utilized it. Jim Comey did, Republicans did. Democrats did. Because all this happened in secret.”
Napolitano predicted branches of the federal government will eventually begin turning against one other, sending the country into crisis mode.
“A constitutional crisis occurs when one branch of government is going after another. Or when one branch of government is going after itself,” he concluded. “I hope and pray that I am wrong and that a constitutional crisis is not coming. But these things are bred in secret when we don’t know what the courts are doing.”
