Police in Raleigh, North Carolina arrested a mother for allegedly forcing her baby to smoke marijuana. Police are accusing Brianna Ashanti Lofton of making her one-year-old child of smoking “a marijuana blunt,” WNCN News reports.

According to arrest warrants, the Raleigh Police made the arrest after viewing a video of the alleged act that had been posted on Facebook. The authorities noticed the video after concerned citizens began sharing the video to the police department’s Facebook page on Wednesday morning.

Lofton is charged with two counts of felony child abuse causing serious bodily harm, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and marijuana possession.

The alleged incident occurred between the beginning of December 2017 and the end of January 2018.

WNCN says Lofton is being held in the Wake County Detention Center and the Wake County Child Protective Services are providing care for the baby until further notice, police say.

“We appreciate the public’s help in this matter,” said Lt. Jason Hodge of the Raleigh Police department. “We welcome and encourage any assistance the public is willing to give us at all times.”
