Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo went to a predominantly black church in Harlem Sunday and proceeded to make fun of Jewish people’s dancing abilities, according to a new report.
Cuomo’s joke mocking Jewish people as inferior dancers fell flat among the congregation, the New York Post reported.
“I want you to know as a matter of full disclosure, I am a Catholic. Catholics basically believe the same teachings that Baptists believe,” Cuomo said at Mount Neboh Baptist Church, according to the Post. “We just do it without the rhythm. But we try. We are not as without rhythm as some of our Jewish brothers and sisters.”
Cuomo singled out Democratic consultant and ordained rabbi Hank Sheinkopf for his poor dancing abilities, according to the Post. (RELATED: NYC-Born Andrew Cuomo Goes On MSNBC — Claims To Be An Immigrant [VIDEO])
“I was watching Mr. Sheinkopf here in the front row moving to the music,” Cuomo said. “It was ugly, I’ll tell you the truth.”
“There weren’t many people laughing, but I didn’t feel humiliated,” Sheinkopf told the paper. “He’s the governor. He’s now in charge of American dancing,” he snarked.
