Many of the nation’s top law firms and legal counsels are jockeying to represent President Donald Trump in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 president election, the president said Sunday.

Trump is having no problems finding new representation after John Dowd — the president’s lead lawyer in the Mueller probe — resigned Thursday, the president said in a series of early morning tweets Sunday. Trump may be shying away from hiring additional legal representation for fear it will slow down the probe and reiterated he is not concerned with the investigation because there is “NO COLLUSION with Russia,” he also claimed.

“Many lawyers and top law firms want to represent me in the Russia case … don’t believe the Fake News narrative that it is hard to find a lawyer who wants to take this on. Fame & fortune will NEVER be turned down by a lawyer, though some are conflicted. Problem is that a new,” the president tweeted Sunday morning.

“Lawyer or law firm will take months to get up to speed (if for no other reason than they can bill more), which is unfair to our great country — and I am very happy with my existing team. Besides, there was NO COLLUSION with Russia, except by Crooked Hillary and the Dems,” Trump continued.

The president was having a difficult time finding a “top-notch” replacement for Dowd, The Washington Post reported Thursday. Many law firms were weary of representing the president, and others have turned him down due to conflicts of interest with other clients, the paper reported.

Trump hired Joe DiGenova, former United States attorney for the District of Columbia and frequent Fox News guest, to serve on his personal legal team last week before Dowd resigned.

Like the president stated in recent weeks, the Russia investigation is the brainchild of FBI and DOJ officials under former President Barack Obama, DiGenova ardently believes.
