Chance the Rapper blasted Heineken’s latest ad for its line of light beer as “terribly racist” and called out the company for doing so just to promote the brand, Newsweek reported Monday.

“I think some companies are purposely putting out noticeably racists ads so they can get more views. And that shit racist/bogus so I guess I shouldn’t help by posting about it. But I gotta just say tho. The ‘sometimes lighter is better’ Heineken [sic] commercial is terribly racist omg,” the 24-year-old rapper–whose real name is Chancelor Jonathan Bennett–tweeted Sunday to his 7 million followers.

In the ad, viewers see a bartender slide the brand’s light beer to a woman at the other end of the bar. Along the journey, the light beverage passes a handful of people, including a few with darker skin tones.

The rapper explained a short time later that he wasn’t calling for a boycott of the company, but wanted to call attention to its advertising tactics.

“I’m not saying boycott them or go off im just noticing how often it happens and I think they baiting consumers and tweeters and freelancers and shit. Like I didn’t wanna tweet about it so bad but its like how can u not,” Chance added.

On Monday, Heineken apologized and said the ad “missed the mark.”

“For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows there’s more that unites us than divides us,” a statement from the beer company read. “While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer–we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns.”
