Duke guard Grayson Allen’s days as a college basketball star are officially over.

Allen will go down as one of the most hated people to ever play college basketball, and he should always be remembered as one of the most electric.

Look, I’m not here to defend Allen’s dumb actions, such as tripping players. That’s not my goal at all. Let’s not forget that he stole a ring off of my finger in 2015 when he beat Wisconsin. I’m still smart enough to recognize that what Allen did for the Blue Devils was incredible.

Can anybody name a more hated player in the past decade? There’s nobody that comes to mind at all.

This would be a totally different conversation if he wasn’t such a dominating player. Nobody cares about the cocky player who doesn’t shift the winds on the court, but that’s not who Allen is. He has a national championship, he dominated on the court and Duke had four years of incredible success with him on the roster.

That’s why people hate him so much. People hate winners, and they really hate winners who have an attitude. Personally, I loved everything about Grayson Allen. He went out there, balled, won games and did it while pissing off the whole world. The man stole a ring off my finger and I’m still honest about the situation! That’s how you know I’m keeping it real.

I’m not sure the college basketball world ever deserved the ride that Allen gave us, but we were all lucky enough to watch four years of it. Hate him or love him, the guy left a mark that won’t soon be forgotten.
