Former Texas Christian University star quarterback Trevone Boykin was accused of domestic assault by his girlfriend on Monday night.

Speaking to local Texas news outlet WFAA, Shabrika Bailey gave a graphic account of how Trevone Boykin beat her after they got into an argument over a text message last week.

Bailey claims the two have been dating since they were in high school and Boykin has had a history of violence.

She says they were at home together when he demanded he show him her text messages. When she refused, he started to attack her.

“So he goes into a choke. I remember him choking me and I’m trying to calm him down. And I just couldn’t. And I blacked out. I just couldn’t calm him down at all. The pressure was just hard. The pressure got hard to where I just remember just collapsing completely. And I just woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor. My whole right side was full of blood on the kitchen floor,” she said. “And I’ve never seen that much blood. I thought I was bleeding from somewhere else cause it was so much blood, completely.”

She says he dragged her to the bathtub, took her clothes off, and tried to get rid of some of the blood. After waiting a few hours, he drove her to Dallas Regional Medical Center and learned he’d broken her jaw on both sides. Bailey says she had her jaw wired shut but was still having a hard time breathing, so she was promptly separated from Boykin and rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital. She spent three days in the hospital and was questioned about her relationship with Boykin.

Boykin was also arrested in 2015 for assaulting a bicycle cop. In 2017, he was arrested for public intoxication and possession of marijuana.

“It just can’t keep going on,” Bailey said of the violent relationship with Boykin. “He just can’t get away with this. This is serious. This is domestic violence. You can’t keep doing this, it’s not cool, to constantly, like, make me the victim and you get away with it. Something has to happen because right now [he’s] just consistent with it. Like he can get away with it and nobody ever know.”

Authorities have now confirmed that Boykin is under investigation.

This past January, Boykin signed a reserve/future contract with the Seahawks. The team has not issued a comment about the incident yet.
