Shaquille O’Neal once spent $70,000 at a Walmart.
HBO released a preview Wednesday of an interview it did with the NBA legend, and it’s mind-blowing.
Shaq, whose net worth is said to be around $800 million in the interview, claims he dropped the $70,000 at a Walmart after being traded to the Phoenix Suns because his apartment wasn’t furnished.
He even claims that American Express thought his card had been stolen, which seems very reasonable.
“I have the highest purchase in Walmart history.” @SHAQ recalls the time he spent so much money in a single shopping spree that American Express thought his card was stolen.

There are plenty of wild stories about athletes and other rich people with their money that I can rattle off the top of my head. Walking into car dealerships with duffel bags of cash, spending enough to buy a house at a strip club and buying lake houses to stock them with guns are three that I can think of off the top of my head.
Dropping $70,000 at a Walmart is something I’ve never heard of before. He claims he was buying “pans, socks, underwear” and “TVs,” but even at Walmart how do you rack up such a large charge? It makes no sense.
I love the realness of O’Neal. Dropped more money in a night at Walmart than lots of Americans make in a year. Absolutely unbelievable and hilarious. The legend of Shaq continues to grow long after he’s out of the league.
